FAQ

If you’re new to M and have questions, hopefully we’ll answer them below. If you can’t find the information you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

The M Service

How does the service work?

M is a station-based service. This means that in order to drive one of our cars, you need to pick it up from your chosen station and return it to the same one when you’re done with your trip. It is not possible to pick up one of our cars and leave it in another part of the city.

Everything is managed through one smartphone app, even access to the car. To unlock and lock the car you’ve reserved, you simply swipe the digital key in the app, and you need to have bluetooth enabled to do this.

What does 'Beta' mean?

Beta is the first phase of M to be publicly available before a full launch later in 2019. We’re starting small in select areas of Stockholm, inviting local residents to try the service as we plan to grow with demand.

M Beta is just the beginning: we will continuously test new features and personalize the service for our growing community of M members.

How do reservations work?

You can reserve a car for a minimum of one hour to as long as you like.

You can cancel your reservation within the app. If you do so with at least 24 hours notice, you will not be charged. If you cancel within 24 hours of the start of your reservation, you will be charged 50% of the full cost of the trip.

For the duration of this beta period, you cannot currently drive the car outside of Sweden.

What if something goes wrong before, during or after my trip?

Don’t worry, we’re always on hand to help! Our customer care team is on call 24/7 to answer any questions you might have by phone or chat within the app.

What cars can I reserve?

We have three categories of vehicles designed to suit your different needs:

  • Urban: Volvo XC40

  • Comfort: Volvo V60 and XC60

  • Family: Volvo V90 and XC90

A select number of V90 and XC60s within our fleet are hybrid cars. This will increase over time. If you receive a hybrid we will provide you with the information you need to use it comfortably.

Your hourly/daily rate does not change depending on the type of car you drive.

Please note, we automatically offset the carbon emissions of all our cars while in use. We recognize this as only a first step towards a climate positive practice and will continue to expand this effort in the coming months. Where is M available?

M is currently available in Stockholm at various locations in Hammarby Sjöstad, Kungsholmen and Liljeholmen. You can also find us at NK-Parkering - Parkaden, Norra Djugårdsstaden, Norra Real and Medborgarplatsen.

Joining M

What are the criteria for using M?

You must be 18 years or older in order to use our service and hold a valid driver's license (Swedish or foreign).

For foreign licenses, our customer care team will provide you with some additional support for initial registration.

You will need to identify yourself with Bank ID in order to register for an account with M.

Price plans

How much does it cost?

You pick a plan that fits your driving needs. The plans renew automatically every 30 days. You can change plans whenever you want in the app, or by getting in touch with Customer Care. Fuel, tolls, insurance, and 300 km per day are included in all plans.

Which plan should I pick?

Small
We designed Small for those with light driving needs. The rates are 135 SEK/hour, 1295 SEK/day, and 2495 SEK/weekend. This is an excellent choice if you need to run errands or go on a few short outings per month. There is no monthly membership fee at this level. So if you drive ten hours or less in a month, this is a smart choice for you. 

Lagom
Lagom is best for light to medium driving needs that fall between ten to thirty hours a month. It is a good option for those going on weekly shopping trips or regular weekend getaways. While there is a monthly fee of 195 SEK, the rates are lower at 110 SEK/hour, 1195 SEK/day, and 2295 SEK/weekend.

Large
The Large plan is designed to meet the needs of heavy drivers. So if you log more than thirty hours behind the wheel in a month, this is the way to go. With an 895 SEK monthly fee, this plan features significantly lower rates of 85 SEK/hour, 995 SEK/day, and 1995 SEK/weekend.

What if I want to cancel my membership?

You can cancel your membership at any time by contacting Customer Care by phone or via chat in the app.

Your membership is 30 days rolling from the day you first activate it. Regardless of when you deactivate the membership, you will need to wait until the end of that 30-day cycle before your membership is terminated.

What’s included?

Fuel is included with every reservation. We only ask that you return the car with no less than one ¼ of a tank when you’re done. We provide a card for use at all Circle K stations in Sweden so you do not need to purchase fuel with your own money.

Excess reduction is included with every reservation. You can contact customer care to remove it if you wish, but the price will stay the same.

Tolls are included in Sweden, but not for Öresundsbron.

Mileage is included for a maximum of 300 km per day. For each kilometer you drive over 300 km, there is an additional charge of 2.5 SEK. For a two day reservation, you get 600 km to use however you want–meaning you could drive all 600km in one day.
